In the Dark Cave is a nicely-illustrated book. Its full-page, high-contrast, black-and-white images are very effective in capturing the dark environment of the cave. Primarily intended for children under seven years of age, there is much to interest and delight young readers here. But the poem is more than just a children s verse. It is also a message and a reminder to cave softly because even the most benign of trips may have lasting effects on both the cave and its denizens. --National Speleological Society News
This is a rhyming book about a dark cave and the creatures that live happily in it (without light). One day, an explorer ventures down the cave with light and the creatures do not know what to make of it. This book is different in that the illustrations are in black and white. This definitely grabs [the attention of the reader] and would be a good book for those learning how to read. --Puget Sound Council
