Akoli (Acholi )

The Akoli language—more commonly spelled Acholi (also known as Acoli, Leb Acoli, or Leb Lwo)—is spoken predominantly in Uganda and South Sudan.
The Acholi people are descendants of Nilotic Luo-speaking groups who migrated southward from the Bahr el Ghazal region in South Sudan into northern Uganda between the 14th and 18th centuries.
Current Status: It is used as a first language by roughly 1.5 to 2 million people and serves as a medium of instruction in local early primary education, though it holds no official national status in either Uganda or South Sudan.
