Tutchone is spoken in Canada, in the central and southern Yukon, in communities such as Carmacks, Pelly Crossing, Mayo, Haines Junction, and Burwash Landing.
Tutchone is a Northern Athapaskan language with two distinct varieties, Northern Tutchone and Southern Tutchone, which are often treated as separate languages. Both are endangered, with only a few hundred speakers between them, most of them elders.
