Nyika (Mijikenda) is spoken in Kenya, along the coast from Mombasa north to Malindi and south to the Tanzanian border, and in small numbers in northeastern Tanzania.
Nyika is the older name for the Mijikenda languages, a group of closely related Bantu languages including Giriama, Digo, Duruma, and Rabai. Together they have about 2 million speakers. They are closely related to Swahili, and many speakers also use Swahili and English.
