Omaha is spoken in the United States, in northeastern Nebraska, on the Omaha Reservation around Macy, and by the closely related Ponca people in Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Omaha-Ponca is a Siouan language of the Dhegiha group, related to Osage, Kansa, and Quapaw. It is critically endangered, with only a few elderly fluent speakers, but it is taught at the Omaha Nation schools and at the University of Nebraska.
