Language Information

Faliscan was spoken in ancient central Italy, in the territory of the Falisci around Falerii (modern Civita Castellana), north of Rome. It is extinct.
Faliscan was an Italic language very closely related to Latin. It is known from a few hundred short inscriptions from the 7th to the 2nd century B.C. It was replaced by Latin after Rome conquered the Falisci in 241 B.C.
