Volapuk

Language Information

Volapük is an international auxiliary language, now used by only a small number of enthusiasts.
Volapük was created in 1879-1880 by Johann Martin Schleyer, a German Catholic priest. It was the first constructed language to gain a large following, with hundreds of clubs by the late 1880s, but it soon declined because of its difficult grammar and was overtaken by Esperanto. Its name means "world speech."
