Language Information
Tagish was spoken in Canada, in the southern Yukon around Carcross and Tagish Lake, and in northwestern British Columbia.
Tagish is a Northern Athapaskan language closely related to Tahltan and Kaska. Over the 20th century the Tagish people largely shifted to Tlingit and English, and the last fluent speaker, Lucy Wren, died in 2008. It is now considered extinct, though recordings and word lists survive.
