Adangme

Language Information

Dangme has approximately 2 million speakers and is recognized as one of the official localized languages of Ghana. It is heavily used in everyday life, local markets, and radio broadcasts.
Within Ghana, it is the predominant language of the Greater Accra Region (specifically the plains east of Accra) and parts of the Eastern Region and Volta Region.

Adesahi tsuo ɔ, a bɔ mɛ nɛ nɔ fɛɛ nɔ e ye e he, nɛ nɔ tsuaa nɔsɔ ngɛ odehe si himi kɛ he blɔhi a blɔ fa mi. A bɔ mɛ kɛ nɔ́ se kɔmi kɛ he nule juɛmi, nɛ e hia kaa nɔ fɛɛ nɔ nɛ e na nyɛmi suɔmi kɛ ha nɔ tsuaa nɔ.

English translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
