Language Information
It belongs to the Northwest Caucasian (or Abkhazo-Adyghe) language family. Globally, there are an estimated 300,000 to 600,000 speakers, with the vast majority living outside of their ancestral homeland due to historical displacement.
In Russia, Adyghe is an official language alongside Russian in the Republic of Adygea, located in the North Caucasus region.
