Bahnar is spoken in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, in Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Bình Định provinces.
Bahnar is a Mon-Khmer (Austroasiatic) language of the Bahnaric branch, with about 200,000 speakers. The Bahnar are known for their tall communal houses (rong) and their traditional gong music, which UNESCO recognizes as part of the Space of Gong Culture of the Central Highlands.
