Cabecar is spoken in Costa Rica, in the Talamanca mountains and on the Caribbean slope.
Cabecar is a Chibchan language, closely related to Bribri, with about 10,000 to 15,000 speakers. It is one of the most vigorous Indigenous languages of Costa Rica, and many Cabecar children still learn it as their first language.
