The Ge (Je) languages are spoken in central and southern Brazil, in the states of Mato Grosso, Goiás, Tocantins, Pará, Maranhão, Paraná, and Santa Catarina.
Ge is a family of about 20 languages, including Kaingang, Xavante, Kayapó, Apinayé, and Xerente. Kaingang is the largest, with about 20,000 or more speakers. The Kayapó are well known internationally for their defense of the Amazon rainforest.
