Huastec

Language Information

Huastec (Wastek) is spoken in northeastern Mexico, in San Luis Potosí and northern Veracruz.
Huastec is a Mayan language with about 170,000 speakers. It is geographically separated from all other Mayan languages, which are spoken hundreds of miles to the south, suggesting an early migration.

Ejtal an kw'ajiiltsik u wa'chinal kweteem ani chu'udh k'al an chu'uxtalaab ani yajat ka k'aak'naaxin juun ani juun.

English translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
