Kachin (Jingpho) is spoken in northern Myanmar (Kachin State and northern Shan State), in southwestern China (Yunnan), and in northeastern India (Assam and Arunachal Pradesh).
Jingpho is a Tibeto-Burman language with about 1 million speakers. It serves as a common language among the several peoples called Kachin. It is written in a Roman alphabet created by the American missionary Ola Hanson around 1890.
