Language Information

The Lunda Empire's capital was musumba, in the actual province of Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ex-Zaïre) The former Lunda Empire was split up after the Berlin Conference of 1884 over mainly 3 countries: Belgian Congo, Zambia and Angola. The Lunda language is not only spoken in Angola, but also in the South-East part of Congo, in northern Zambia and in northwest Zimbabwe. Muntu wejima wasemuka walukbuka wesekana hamu ni akwawu mukumulemesha. Wenkewa kutong'ojoka nikuzatila hamu nimukwawu muntu muwunta'a.

English translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
