Language Information

Makonde is spoken in southeastern Tanzania and northern Mozambique, on the Makonde Plateau.
Makonde is a Bantu language with about 1.5 million or more speakers. The Makonde are world-renowned for their ebony wood carvings.

English translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
