Language Information

Min Chinese is spoken in southeastern China (Fujian, eastern Guangdong, and Hainan), in Taiwan, and by large overseas Chinese communities in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Min is a major group of Chinese languages with about 75 million speakers. Its best known variety is Hokkien (Amoy, or Taiwanese), and others include Teochew, Fuzhou, and Hainanese. Min preserves many features of Old Chinese that other Chinese languages have lost.
