Miskito is spoken on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua and in the Mosquitia region of eastern Honduras.
Miskito is a Misumalpan language with about 150,000 to 200,000 speakers. The Miskito allied with the British from the 17th century, and the Mosquito Coast was a British protectorate until the 19th century. Miskito includes many English words.
