Occidental (renamed Interlingue in 1949) is an international auxiliary language used by a small community of enthusiasts.
Occidental was created in 1922 by the Estonian teacher Edgar de Wahl. It was designed to look natural to readers of Western European languages, using words and grammar patterns common to them.
