Riffian (Tarifit) is spoken in northeastern Morocco, in the Rif mountains, and by large emigrant communities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Germany.
Riffian is a Berber (Amazigh) language with about 1.5 to 3 million speakers. The Rif was the center of the Rif War against Spain and France in the 1920s, led by Abd el-Krim.
