Kabyle is spoken in northern Algeria, in the Kabylie region east of Algiers, and by large emigrant communities in France.
Kabyle is a Berber (Amazigh) language with about 5 million speakers. The Kabyles have been leaders of the Berber cultural movement, which won official status for Tamazight in Algeria in 2016.
