Serer-Sin

Language Information

Serer (Serer-Sine) is spoken in western Senegal, in the Sine-Saloum region and around Thiès and Fatick, and in the Gambia.
Serer is a West Atlantic language, closely related to Fulani, with about 1.5 million speakers. Léopold Sédar Senghor, the poet and first president of Senegal, was Serer. Many Serer also speak Wolof.

English translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
