Bassa

Language Information

Bassa is spoken in central Liberia, including around Monrovia and Buchanan, and in neighboring Sierra Leone.
Bassa is a Kru language with about 400,000 or more speakers. It has its own alphabet, called Vah, which was revived in the early 20th century. It should not be confused with Basaa of Cameroon, a Bantu language with about 300,000 speakers.
