Tonga (Chitonga) is spoken in southern Zambia and northwestern Zimbabwe.
Tonga is a Bantu language with about 1.5 million or more speakers. Many Tonga were resettled when the Kariba Dam was built on the Zambezi in the 1950s. It should not be confused with Tongan, the Polynesian language of Tonga.
